This ‘subject’, ‘discipline’ or ‘field’ of knowledge represents a challenge to the more formal elements of education and is frequently marginalised as the assessment requirements are subjective judgements rather than objective evidence. The creative process is about seeing the world differently and asking awkward questions about value and purpose. The development of the creative mind nurtures the individual, society however increasingly favours a product based on formal, collective and measurable instruction and training.
